Alfred Charles Greenfield Sr.
Thursday, December 1, 2011
Alfred Charles Greenfield Sr., a recent resident of McKinney, Texas, passed on to a better place on Thursday, December 1, 2011. Al was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on June 19, 1942, and was welcomed to this world by his loving parents, Alfred and Margaret, and his sister Peggy. Shortly before his senior year of High School, the family relocated to Williamsburg, Virginia, where he graduated from James Blair High and later attended Randolph-Macon College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.
While attending college, he was known to easily make friends, some of whom introduced Al to his devoted wife of the next 47 years, Susan Redford. They were married on August 8, 1964 and lived in Susan’s hometown of Richmond, Virginia for forty years. A few years after marriage, their first child, Jennifer Christine was born, followed closely by Alfred Charles Jr. and Jonathan Martin. Over his life, he has filled many roles, including construction company owner, corporate manager, and team leader. He has been a father figure to many, including those who may not have had one, or those who may have needed one at the time. He was affectionately known as “Abuelo” (grandfather) by his team and thought of Encore Restaurants/Sonic as his second family.
Al is remembered fondly for his quick wit and banter, his passion for cookies and laughter, and his warm and welcoming smile, humor, and demeanor. He touched the lives of many people, with so many having nothing but wonderful ways to describe the man who lifted spirits and brightened days wherever he went. A lifelong Redskins fan, Al enjoyed John Wayne movies, old westerns, and watching Warner Bros. cartoons with his children and later, his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, who will always miss his warmth and tenderness. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Arthur and her family; his daughter Jennifer and her husband Michael Tsou, son Alfred Jr. and his wife Melissa, son Jonathan; and his grandchildren Heather, Ashley, Katelyn, Abigail, Bryan, Alfred III (Trey), Mattison, and Kendall.
An informal service celebrating Al’s life will be held at LifePoint Church in Plano, Texas on Thursday, December 8, 2011 in the “Parlor” room at 3:00 PM, and will be conducted by Pastor Dr. Stephen K.L. Chock. An opportunity will be made available following the services for friends to speak with the family. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests memorial contributions in Al’s name to the American Heart Association.

Rest now Pop, you earned it! I love you always!
I may not have said it as often as I should,
I may not have said it very loud,
I may not have said it to you every time I thought it,
But I am and was, so very proud.
I am proud to have had you as my father.
I am proud to have had you as my friend.
Dad I'm so very grateful I am your daughter.
I love you and will always love you - that will never end.
I miss you so very very much...
I love you,
jenn
"If a man die, shall he live again?" asked the man Job long ago.( Job 14:14, King James Version) Perhaps you, too, have wondered about this. How would you feel if you knew that a reunion with your loved ones was possible right here on earth under the best of conditions? Well, the Bible makes the promise: "Your dead ones will live....They will rise up." And the Bible also says: The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."-Isaiah 26:19; Psalm 37:29. I hope this has brought you as much comfort as it did me in my time of sorrow.
