Frances Elizabeth Carby

 

Frances Elizabeth Smith Carby, age 89, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 26, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.  Born in Upshur County, she lived in Longview, TX for 50 years, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  Prior to moving to Dallas to be with her son’s family, she was an active member of the Clyde Hall Sunday School Class and participated in the Pioneers Senior Adults group.  Frances was devoted to her family and had a great love of the outdoors, gardening and traveling.  Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Thomas W. Smith and husband, Royl J. Carby of 1½ years.  She is survived by her son, Tom L. Smith, daughter-in-law Paula and granddaughter, Renee’ E. Smith, all of Dallas and sisters Kathryn Duncan of Pittsburg, TX and Dorothy Hart of Gilmer, TX.  Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Park on Hwy. 271, Gilmer, TX.
